£10,000 Donated to Macmillan

Just over eight months of fund raising activities for Eye Feel Good, based in Antrim, culminated in a eurovision themed formal ball at the Masserene Golf Club on Saturday 29th May. Over 200 guests enjoyed an evening of gastronomic extravagance, top class entertainment and a charity auction that would be the envy of any social gathering.

The highlight of the evening was a presentation of £10,000 towards the building of a specialist palliative care unit at Antrim Area Hospital. The presentation was made to Jill Stubbs and Anne McLean from the local Macmillan Fund raising committee.

Jill Stubbs, from the local Macmillan fund raising committee, said "This is an amazing amount of money to be raised by such a small and dedicated amount of people. The Eye Feel Good team have done a wonderful job this year, the money they have raised will go a long way to helping raise the vital funds that are needed to build the palliative care unit at Antrim Area Hospital".

The charity auction included lots for a helicopter experience for two over the mourne mountains, a night for two in Malmaison in Belfast and return flights to London.

Entertainment was provided by local musicians and entertainers. Jonny Brady provided acoustic reception. Portglenone Irish dancers provided mid-dinner entertainment and Peach "The ultimate Party Band" took the revellers late into the night.

Richard Fee, Eye Feel Good Chairman said "This was a fantastic night which capped a phenomenal year. We all worked really hard this year. We raised lots of money for a worthy cause and we have set ourselves up nicely for next year. I want us to reach another level in 2010/ 2011. On behalf of the Eye Feel Good team I would like to thank everybody who has helped us along the way this year, we couldn’t have done it without the help of so many people."
